With more than 20 years’ experience, Cathy Wang starts her career from hospitality design area, in which she has accumulated a wealth of practical experience in serving Chinese market and international hospitality group. After resigning from HBA as senior design director, Cathy founded Montaigne Design (MD) in Shanghai in 2011. She leads a multi-cultural background design team to dedicate to international chain hotels，boutique hotels and some special creative projects. Cathy has won plenties of international design awards, and frequently been recognized in the media.

Cathy's design is timeless, elegant and retro-modern, which is embodied with the spirits that advances with the Time, emphasizing the eternal values of space, which does not fade with time, on the contrary, it becomes even more precious and outstanding through the refinement of time. She is enthusiastic about creating an immersive theatrical space experience that mixes emotion, design, art, and local culture. "I am driven to do what I haven't done. I love a creative challenge, to learn a new craft, a new way of thinking, and doing things. The inspiration is always there. I am looking out of the window at a tree that has white leaves and wondering what I can do with it? Nature always inspires me.

But on a practical level, it's about to filling in the void, coming up something that answers the frustration of what's missing, what could use the space efficiently and given a storyline, provoking people's emotion, create a memorable moment. "

As founder/creative director of MD , Cathy has a deep understanding of the project delivery and market orientation, her cross-cultural vision and sensitivity and approach enable her to maintain fresh perspectives and keen insight. Cathy works closely with the team, and she is always passionate to design the most creative and reasonable concept for each project, and to control the implementation phase, and finally culminate it in the most optimized way.
